TOA17 Festival FAQ


When is TOA17?

TOA is a 4-day festival on July 11–14, which includes a 2-day conference and satellite events.

Day 1: July 11

Satellite Events: 6pm–11pm

Day 2: July 12

Conference: 9am–5pm

Satellite Events: 6pm–late

Day 3: July 13

Conference: 9am–5pm

Satellite Events: 6pm–late

Day 4: July 14

Satellite Events: 9am–6pm

Closing Party: 7pm–late


Where is TOA17 held?

The two days of the TOA17 conference are held at Funkhaus Berlin. The address is Nalepastraße 18, 12459 Berlin. Satellite events are held all across the city. You can see them all here, or download our app (expected beggining of July) to see our events on a live map of the city!


How do I get to and from the venue?

You can access the venue with our TOA shuttle bus or boat and by tram, car, bike and taxi. More information on transport options will be communicated on our website and newsletter closer to the festival. 


Does TOA have an app?

Our TOA17 app will be released at the start of July. Sign up to the newsletter to be the first to know. With it you’ll be able to create personalised schedules, get custom notifications, transport and event info, maps and more.



What is included in my ticket?

Your TOA ticket gives you access to the conference and preferential access to the Tech Open Air Satellite Events.


When is the latest I can purchase my ticket online?

Ticket sales close at midday (12pm) on the 2nd day of TOA (July 13).


How can I pay for my ticket?

TOA uses Eventbrite for our ticket for registration and payment processing, which accepts payments from VISA, MasterCard, American Express SoFort and Sepa. If you wish to pay through invoice, please contact us at


Is there a possibility of a refund if I am not able to come?

Unfortunately, tickets are not refundable. If you decide not to attend and have found someone who is interest to attend the event in your place, it is possible to transfer the ticket to another person as long as the change has been done before 12pm on Monday, July 10.


Can I get a group discount on my tickets?

Must I bring my student ID with me if I have purchased a student ticket?

Yes, if you have purchased a student ticket, you will be required to present your full time student ID upon collection.



Will there be power stations to charge my phone or laptop?

We will not provide cords or chargers for your mobile or app. Power sockets can be found in Studio 1, and behind the service counter if needed. Please bring your devices fully charged.


Where can I find the programme?

On the app, online, or in the printed programme, which you will receive at the registration desk and around the venue.


Will there be free WiFi at Funkhaus?

Yes. WiFi will be available to all Conference attendees. Watch this space for the name and password for access.


Is there food and drinks at the event?

Yes, there will be a variety of different local food retailers and startups where you will be able to purchase food. We are laying on even more catering than last year so we can get you to your lunch as soon as possible. 


Will there be a live stream of the conference?

Yes! Tune into our website to see a live stream of Studio 1.


Where do I exchange my ticket for a wristband, and when does it open?

Check out the map for directions to the entrance and registrations area. Registrations will open from 9am to 6pm. Your Eventbrite ticket will be scanned, and you will receive a TOA wristband (Please note: You will only receive one wristband, which you will need to access and move about the venue and satellites for the next three days. Please keep it on!)


Satellite Events

What is a satellite event?

Satellite events are like the after hours of the TOA conference. Just when you think the party is over, satellite events kick in to fill your mind with more knowledge, your evenings with more fun, and take your overall TOA experience up to eleven.

Companies, communities, and individuals from Berlin and beyond will host events all across the city for TOA attendees and the general public. These events range from workshops, to networking parties, to inspirational discussions, to anything our visionary hosts can dream up!


Where are Satellite events held?

Satellite events are all across the city. You can see them all here, or download our app (available start of July) to see our events on a live map of the city!


Where can I find a list of all the satellite events?

Check out our satellites page for the full list of satellite events, or download the app for to see them all and create your own personalised schedule, and navigate yourself through Berlin with our routing features!


I’m not attending the TOA conference. Can I still attend a satellite event?

Satellite events are open to the public. Make sure you register for the event prior, and be quick, because events fill up fast!


Does my TOA ticket guarantee entrance to any satellite event?

TOA17 ticket holders receive unique promotional codes used to access our hidden stash of satellite event tickets. An email will be sent to you with the promo code within 24 hours of registering, and each code can be used to register once for every Satellite event. A limited number of these tickets are held for each event and may “sell out” just like public tickets.


My company would love to host a Satellite event. Who can I talk to?

I am at a satellite event. How do I find out what other events are happening near me?

From early July you’ll be able to download the TOA app to see what’s going on around you! Just open maps, check out events close and across across the city, and route yourself there right from the app.
