Alex is a serial entrepreneur, currently Chief WOWness Officer at Press42, co-founder & associated editor at Tech.eu, former CEO at Tetuan Valley, founding partner at Startupbootcamp Europe, Global Shaper and Sandboxer. He’s also been an Aikido practitioner for nearly 8 years as well as a student of Japanese Calligraphy for nearly 4 years.

He enjoys reusing and repurposing material to make useful everyday objects. Inspired by the increasing interest in creating well-designed, artisanal objects by hand, Mancrafters aims to provide crafting experiences for everyone, believing that through crafting offers a unique opportunity to both inspire a feeling of community and friendship and a sense of accomplishment. His workshop teaches you how to create your own variety of leather goods: personalized luggage tags, small wallets, leather keychains, and more!

Dr. Dimitri De Jonghe is a blockchain core and app developer with a passion for decentralizing current systems of power.After finishing his PhD on applied machine learning to micro-electronics, he co-founded 2 startups in the machine-learning space. Currently, Dimitri is working as application director in BigchainDB, merging big data with blockchain. He is also a co-chair of the W3C Interledger community, a blockchain interoperability protocol. Rather than trying to scale up blockchain technology, BigchainDB starts with a big data distributed database and then adds blockchain characteristics – decentralized control, immutability and the transfer of digital assets.

Robert has two decades of experience as a designer and consultant. After completing his studies in Switzerland and the Netherlands, he went on to work for some of the biggest German and Dutch agencies. After spending five years as a business consultant for PWC and IBM in the Netherlands, Robert returned to the field of design and communications in 2006 and has been a managing partner and co-owner at Edenspiekermann since 2009.

Pia Betton links design thinking to business. Originally from Denmark, Pia looks back at 20 years work experience within the areas of brand development, corporate design, design research, innovation, and communication. With management positions at MetaDesign, Institute of Electronic Business, 180° Business Academy, and now, a partner at Edenspiekermann, Pia covers subjects ranging from design and innovation to business, change, and transformation. Together, Pia and Robert will guide you through the details of a user-centric design approach, from exploration to a prototype.

With bots already being all around us, designing new interfaces to interact with users are become increasingly important. Within the workshop, you will go through the entire process of bot creation, beginning from the design, to prototyping and building, followed with examples of real-life implementation.

Limitless Art: Paint with Fire and Sculpt with Ice!

Sara is working on the VR game Lucid Trips, teaches VR at Design Factory International Hamburg and guides longtime VR Trips in collaboration with academic researchers as the world’s first VR Shaman.  And now, Sara is opening the VR/AR incubator in Berlin! VRBase Berlin is giving insight into the creation tools for Virtual Reality and learn tips and tricks on how to sculpt and paint in VR and some HANDS ON time due to availability.

Eric will do a workshop together with Sara Vogl and show you how to 3d print your VR sculpture. Most recently he worked at the Fraunhofer scientific institute, where he gained significant experience in 3D printing technology.  In 2013 Alex finished his qualification as a church organ builder. Afterward, he started his studies as a product designer at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle (Saale). Since 2016 he is working as a freelancer for AMEISE vinyl pressing plant in Hamburg and R.A.N.D. Muzik Record Manufacturing in Leipzig. His project VINYL 2.0 was awarded an exhibition at the Stadtmuseum Halle. 

Since receiving his diploma in computer science, Martin focussed on the analog side of life: pressing vinyl records on vintage industrial equipment taken from the graveyards of the mass music market. He is also an expert in creating interactive electronic art installations.

Feel free to join and watch their experimental machine workshop where a converted record player will engrave the sound into the back of a CD.

Coder Match

Warning! TOA raises the voltage in the room by bringing sixteen agile developers for a knockout round-robin tournament. A series of coding challenges devised by an IBM Watson team will check how fast participants can code and how well they can behave under a short pressure-cooking time. Follow their minds real-time as they share their code lines on huge screens. NodeJS and Python allowed. BYOC [Bring Your Own Computer].

First 16 to APPLY, can match up, the next 20 to apply get free tickets to watch/root their friends. All you need is basic Python/NodeJS, and the ability to learn quickly.
